Five Solaris hydrogen buses now complement RVK's hydrogen-powered fleet in Hürth. The five Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses have been added to the fleet of eleven Van Hool fuel cell buses in Hürth and will be used on all routes in Hürth in the future.

The Van Hool buses were delivered to RVK in summer 2020 and have since been distributed throughout the RVK area. By March 2020, the purchasing consortium of Regional Transport Cologne (RVK) and Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) has ordered a total of 25 fuel cell buses from Solaris - 15 for RVK, 10 for wsw.

The procurement of the buses is part of the EU project JIVE 2, partly funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (formerly FCH JU), the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure via the NIP2 programme and the Ministry of Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
