Deutsche Bahn orders 60 hydrogen-powered buses from Caetanobus

The German state railway group Deutsche Bahn (DB), which also operates local public road transport services, has reached a framework agreement with Portuguese manufacturer Caetanobus for the supply of hydrogen-powered vehicles, which will start running in Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein from 2024.

The agreement - which is part of DB's strategy to replace all diesel-powered buses with green vehicles by 2038 - envisages the supply of a total of 60 vehicles equipped with fuel cells supplied by Toyota by 2026, for an investment totalling € 40 million.
