West Midlands to run the largest hydrogen bus fleet in the western world

The West Midlands region of the UK will receive 124 new hydrogen vehicles after securing £30 million from the Department for Transport.

The region was already at the forefront with 20 hydrogen double-decker buses, purchased by Birmingham City Council and operated by National Express West Midlands as part of the JIVE project, co-funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

This means the region will have 144 hydrogen buses on the road - the largest fleet in the western world.
